"Spring Fever"

My name is Laura Atkinson, and I am a volunteer for the ASD PsiberConference 2002. I am an artist, currently residing in Providence, Rhode Island. The majority of my artwork is inspired by my (rather vivid & colorful) dream images. This image is a 20"x20" acrylic painting.

In the early Spring of 2002, I was the unfortunate victim of a rather nasty flu bug. One night when my fever spiked to about 102, I dreamed of a woman who floated out of kalidescope-like clouds. She was gently speaking to me in rhyme, and assuring me that I would be feeling better very soon.

Two days later, I decided to take the colors that appeared in the dream and applied them directly to canvas, hoping to capture the clouds that I dreamed of. Taking saran wrap and a rolling pin, I literally rolled out the "Spring Fever" image.

Generally speaking, most people attempt to humanize abstract images, especially seeking a face image out of the abstract. (Remember looking up at clouds as a child to find dinasaurs, clowns, and ice-cream cones?)

Personally, I found the face of the woman in my dreams hidden in the colors of my painting. I feel lucky that I may have experienced a special synchonization between the subconcious, and a psychic realm.

"Energy 1-2-3"

This image is an 8X10" Black & White Kirlian Photograph.

A very close friend of mine introduced me to Kirlian Photography a few years ago. He worked with Dr. Stanley Krippner in the 1970s, and has written articles on the subject. During our discussions about meditation, psi-dreams, and kirlian photography, he coached me on meditation techniques to open the wavelegnths to lucid dreaming.

The image "Energy 1-2-3" captures the Kirlian image of my index finger during a three step mediation sequence. 1)beginning in a neutral state of mind 2) thinking positive thoughts 3) thinking of opening my energies to both incoming and outgoing dreams.

The following statement was recorded in my dream journal the next morning: "Imagine what the truth would be, if the visible wasn't all you could see."
