Rough Day
I am driving an old-style 1930s type convertible car. Pulling out of the Mac House driveway. Lots of traffic on the road. Then some driver pauses and lets me on to the road. I am on the left lane and hurry to merge with a traffic before someone comes around the bad corner and hits me. I drive around the curve and downhill and suddenly I see the bridge is out. I think of hitting the brakes, but decide to risk jumping the gap. I drive right off of the edge and the car glides over to the broken road on the other side of the canyon. I drive on the bumpy broken up pavement and Then it becomes sand dunes with steep drops. Off on the right side. I choose to move back from the edge through some tree branchs so I don't slide down the cliff of sand. I get around the curve. I see the ocean off the left. I decide to drive to the beach. As the driver, my work part of the journey is done, so my passengers gather a picnic from the stores lining the beach. They lay out a blanket and I lie down to sunbathe. I look out of the ocean. Dark big waves are coming. I feel a bit afraid I think of running back toward land. Then I decide to face the tidal wave. I stand my ground facing the huge incoming dark wave. I take deep breaths working to time it so I can take in lots of air before I am submerged. I watch the huge inner part of the wave approach Then it hits and I hold my breath as It drags me toward land. My lungs feel like they will burst needing air, but somehow I ride it out and I am safe. I am relieved.
