Trailer-Park
Elf
I am a blonde man in a
world where “fantasy” and “reality” realms have
overlapped. I work with an elf man (who, traumatized, has aged
like a human being) trying to track down an elf woman who has gone
mad. We have to find her soon, because her crazed magic keeps
generating or unleashing monsters and monstrous rogue forces,
endangering elves and humanity alike. We trace down her purchase
of a trailer on a small plot of land several years ago. The elf,
craving reassurance, says that she must have already been mad when she
bought the property; I can tell it offends him to think of an elf
wanting to settle in a human place. I tell him no, the evidence
shows that, whatever her reasons, she had been sane at the time of the
purchase. The property may, however, have something to do with
destroying her sanity.
In waking life I am not
a blonde man, but a dark, mixed-blood Indian woman, although blue-eyed
like the elf in the picture; it was incredibly disconcerting to
realize--after I had drawn her--that she looked strikingly like my
younger self, only paler and of course messier. The contents of
the resultant picture also disturbed me no end; I felt like the
character insisted that I add details that repelled me.
A prior dream, circa
1989, established that elves and human beings had diverged for so long
that now elves would go mad if they stayed too long in human
realms. This dream is part of that “dreamverse”.
This picture was
created in Photoshop.
