JOURNAL IMAGES

Many of my dreams are single images or concise thoughts. I keep a small sketchbook of these images. Often there is no accompanying text because the image is the entire dream. Sometimes the dream description is written on the drawing. That’s it!

These dreams were dreamed and drawn between 2001 and 2004.

1 - The Conference Table

This could illustrate our PsiberDreaming conference--it is the image of conference chairs pulled up around a bed. Although no one is in the bed, it is inviting and ready to be dreamed in! Perhaps it still holds some of the dreams of last night.

2 - A white bulldog holding an orange balloon.

3 - Mayan’s Book

The open pages of a book reveal the ocean with bathers talking to one another. Mayan is an Israeli artist friend who had written a book about making “guidance cards.”

4 - The Curious George Shirt, a Hawaiian-style shirt that I dreamed was given to me as a birthday present. Whoever sees this drawing says, “I want one too!”

5 - “He said that the purple dress with copper butterflies reminded him of Nabokov.”

6 - A sky-blue dress with caricatures of puzzled faces.

7 - Gunland Pillow: a white pillow against a blood-red background.

8 - Mystery writer Margaret Truman points to a bloodstain on a map of the White House lawn. The lawn itself is bleeding!

9 - A Japanese-style hair ornament made from a book of matches. (Collage)

10 -  Canned Bananas, made in Israel.
