THE KESTREL AND THE BOY

I was preparing to go on a bus tour with a number of people I didn't know (last night I took a boat tour of SF Bay with many people from the dream conference, most of whom I didn't know).  The bus was open and seemed to consist of a kind of gridwork of metal tubing.  As the bus was starting out, I noticed that on the sidewalk across the street there was a kestrel standing, larger than in real life (more the size of a red-winged hawk).  A young boy was standing in front of it, reaching toward it, and I was afraid that he would either be bitten by the bird or that it would be spooked and fly off.  However, it seemed he was able to touch it gently and it did not fly away.

THE RETURN OF THE PRINCESS

I become aware that I am being called to return to a land similar to Narnia or Tolkein's Middle Earth.  It was as if there was a thin veil between this world and that, which I could vaguely see through.  I began to recall that I had been there some time ago, and was given a kingdom to rule as a kind of warrior princess.  I was careless and negligent in some way - just wasn't interested enough - for instance, I remember that I did not keep enough warriors around my castle.

Now, however, I am being called back, and this time there is no excuse; things have reached a crucial point there, and I am needed to take up my role and help protect the land.  A helper, vague but seemingly female, has come from there to remind me and help me get ready.  She tells me that I don't remember very much now, but will remember much more as time goes on.  We are gathering clothing for the stay there.  In particular, I found in my jewelry box a large medallion necklace that I had brought from this land. I discovered that I owned several items of clothing that I felt would be
suitable for the tasks I would be carrying out - long-sleeved tunics of velvet with embroidery, pants, a small leather bag suitable for carrying money I might need on the journey.  I knew I would be on horseback and that I could only take a limited amount with me, so picking out what I needed was an important task.
